About the UK National Insurance Calculator

Use this National Insurance calculator to estimate how much employee Class 1 NI you pay in the 2026/27 tax year. Enter annual, monthly or weekly gross pay to see annual, monthly and weekly NI, plus your effective NI rate.

For 2026/27, most employees pay 8% NI on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270, and 2% on earnings above that. Earnings up to the Primary Threshold are not charged employee NI.

This is an employee NI calculator for PAYE workers in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It does not calculate self-employed Class 2 or Class 4 NI — use the Self-Employed Tax Calculator for that.

For official guidance, see GOV.UK National Insurance and GOV.UK NI rates and thresholds.

Results are estimates based on standard employee Class 1 rules and may differ from payroll if you have salary sacrifice, multiple jobs or have reached State Pension age.
