About the EV Pay-Per-Mile Tax Calculator

Use this UK electric vehicle pay-per-mile tax calculator to estimate Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from 1 April 2028. Enter your vehicle type and annual mileage to see yearly, monthly and weekly eVED.

From April 2028, battery electric and hydrogen cars are charged 3p per mile, while plug-in hybrids and range extenders are charged 1.5p per mile. Normal VED continues alongside eVED. These are future rates — not current road tax rules.

Motorists will estimate mileage at VED renewal and reconcile later. No mandatory GPS tracker is required. Overseas miles count for UK-registered cars. Vans, motorcycles, buses, coaches and HGVs are out of scope at launch.
